Directed motion of liquid crystal skyrmions with oscillating fields

چکیده

Using continuum simulations, we show that under a sinusoidal electric field, liquid crystal skyrmions undergo periodic shape oscillations which produce controlled directed motion. The speed of the skyrmion is non-monotonic in frequency applied and exhibits multiple reversals motion as function changing frequency. We map out dynamical regime diagram forward reverse for two superimposed ac driving frequencies, can occur even when only single present. pulsed driving, demonstrate arises due to an asymmetry relaxation times shape. discuss connection between our results ratchet effects observed systems without asymmetric substrates.
